Thesis project in architecure Fall semester 2024
The project explores how the former public bath Liljeholmsbadet in Stockholm can be reinterpreted and renewed with respect for its cultural and social values. Through site-specific analysis and dialogue with local users, the proposal seeks to restore the bath's role as a public meeting place – where architecture, history and everyday life intersect.
Based on this research, the project proposes a new design for a public bathhouse – an open and inclusive social space for everyone. The design maintains the same programmatic functions as before, with full accessibility and a strong connection to the site’s original role. In addition, new saunas and cold baths are introduced alongside the main building to activate the waterfront throughout the year and across the day.
