Our design seeks to answer: What makes us feel at home and how do we feel welcome in a new place?
It’s about connection, learning, and belonging. We aim to empower newcomers for a bright future in Australia, linking our vision to global goals like Quality Education, Decent Work and Reduced Inequalities. Our concept is grounded in sustainable living, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to ensure a long-term positive impact on both community and environment. We aim for simple, cost-effective construction using CLT timber and recycled materials to reduce waste and embed character and history into the homes.
Integrating familiar cultural elements, communal spaces, and sustainable features creates welcoming environments that ease transitions for newcomers. Our innovative design unites housing, hotel, and library into a cohesive whole with an open ground floor encouraging connection and accessibility. The roof plays a central role, providing shelter and acting as a communal sports and recreation space, symbolizing unity and promoting health and community spirit.
